RACE 8 - #5 Classic Giacnroll -  This horse came in dead last at the Penn Derby, but came in 4th in the WV derby.  But that doesnt matter.  He came in second in a G3 at Parx 2 races ago. He is really a good allowance company horse and should beat this field easily unless something odd happens.  Hopefully the price wont be toooo chalky.

I Like ALICE AND TRIXIE in the FIRST Race.  This is a solid class dropper here.  Don't care for the name of the horse much.  But I do care for the fact that this horse is trained by Gary Contessa who finishes in the money over 40% of the time with his horses.  The only issue would be the #7 horse Hot on Ice being able to run a better race and getting up to beat her.  Hopefully that horse will make our pick here a little higher odds on the tote.

CHURCHILL DOWNS BEST BETS FOR SATURDAY 11/8/14

RACE 9 - SILVER MAX - This is Silver Max's race to lose.  Its a drop in class since the last G1 try.  I like Silver Max to win wire to wire here.  Should be a good bet.  Hopefully because this will be a good race we will get a decent price on the horse.

La Malaguena

HUGE drop in class here from stakes company down to allowance company.  This horse finished second in a 200k stakes race at Kentucky Downs a couple of months ago.   I will throwout that Keeneland Race, I am not really sure what happened there.  But she runs great on turf and I expect an easy win here.  Hopefully she wont be too short of a price and we can make some money.

 

 

BEST THOROUGHBRED BETS FOR FRIDAY 11/7/14

Here are some good plays for Friday:

Laurel Park Race 1 - #3 Carolina Princess  - Won last time out at a slightly higher level. Plus the trainer is at 27% in the last couple of weeks.

Laurel Park Race 4 - #3 Redneck Lazy - (5-1 ML).  Class drop here, good speed.  His past performance is rather strange with the route turf races and the sprint dirt races.  Depending on the condition of the track at Laurel, if its still muddy he might take to it.  Assuming he can run with the pace of the last race he should be in the hunt for the money here.


Gulfstream West Race 8 - #6 Sophia's Pride (6-1 ML) - Look at this one for a little longshot play.  She was impressive in her maiden win.  Throw out the turf races and you will see she is a solid dirt horse.  I am a little concerned about the 7 furlong distance and I expect her on the lead.  Don't want her to run out of gas, so maybe look at a Place bet as well.

*****FINGER LAKES RACE 8 - #2 SPECIAL ACTION (6/5) - Dropping in class big time.  Has the best speed figure.  This is simply the best horse in this race and my #1 best bet for today.

CHURCHILL DOWNS RACE 5 - #6 LOOKING AROUND (5-1) - He is trying Dirt for the first time, but has the highest speed figure of the field .  I expect him out in front all the way wire to wire.
 
 CHURCHILL DOWNS RACE 6 - #6 - SAN ANTONE  (3-1) -  Won last time at $50k Claiming now is running at $40k Claiming. And has finished in the money the last 3 races.

LAUREL PARK RACE 1 - #1 SARATOGA SHOCK (9/2) - Everyone is going to stare at the #2 horse with his 4/5 morning line and bet it.  I wont.  Saratoga Shock is a great choice to be on the lead and win the race wire to wire.  Saratoga Shock is also dropping in class into $15K claiming from $40K at Belmont. And as a bonus you'd get the 1A also with the entry.

GULFSTREAM WEST RACE 4 - #1 MR ALGEBRA (2/1) - Dropping class in half.  Can run on Dirt or Turf. Has only won twice in 34 starts, but I like the trainer (Navarro)  and his 77% in the money finishes this meet.  This horse is due for a good turf win.
